Cabbage is a healthy vegetable that can be used to create an amazing natural drink. This article will teach you how to make cabbage juice, I will explain the benefits of that drink, and you will find here a few of my favorite recipes.
You just need one or two ingredients and some time.
How To Make Cabbage Juice Using A Juicer?
Making cabbage juice using a juicer is actually quite simple. All you need to do is wash your cabbage and chop it into chunks. Then, feed the cabbage into your juicer and drink the juice that comes out.
How To Make Cabbage Juice Without A Juicer
If you don’t have a juicer, that is okay. Cabbage juice can be made using a blender instead, it is just a little more complicated.
An important step in making cabbage juice this way is picking the right cabbage. You’ll want an extremely fresh and juicy cabbage for this. The fresher, the better. Try finding a farmers market or local organic market near you, they will have the freshest options.
In order to make cabbage juice this way, you will need a blender, a mesh strainer (anything bigger will get pulp in your juice), a container for holding the juice, and fresh cabbage.
Just like when using a juicer, you’ll want to peel away any bad leaves, and thoroughly wash your cabbage. Unwashed produce can have dirt, bugs, and pesticides in them which can get into your body.
Cut the stem off the cabbage, and chop it into large chunks. Add the cabbage chunks to the blender and fill the blender about two-thirds of the way full with water. If you prefer a thicker juice, add a little less water.
Let the mixture blend at a low speed for roughly 2-4 minutes, then, turn the speed to the highest setting and let it finish blending for 20-30 seconds. If you want it blended extra well, then let it blend on high for the full 60 seconds as opposed to 20 or 30 seconds.
Once the cabbage mixture is done blending, seal it in an airtight container. Be sure to leave a bit of space in the container, as the cabbage juice will expand a bit. Leave the juice to sit in a room temperature space for about 3 days. This will allow the juice to ferment.
After the fermentation process is complete, you will want to strain the mixture into a new container. Remember to use the mesh strainer to avoid chunks and pulp getting in your juice. Your juice should come out of the strainer looking clean, with no chunks in it.
Once strained to your satisfaction, the juice is ready to drink. It is best served cold, so you might want to refrigerate it before drinking it.
Benefits of Cabbage Juice
The cabbage juice has many health benefits, the most common being the juice’s ability to aid in weight loss. However, it also has a number of other very positive effects on your body and health
Marked by its extremely high vitamin and mineral content, cabbage is very powerful food for maintaining optimum health levels.
Benefits of Cabbage Juice for Ulcers
According to WebMD.com, cabbage juice’s effects on ulcers are one of the best-researched benefits of cabbage. “In one study, all but two subjects with ulcers had complete healing after just 3 weeks of drinking cabbage juice regularly.”
In another study, 13 participants with ulcers began drinking about 1 quart of cabbage juice daily and saw almost complete healing in roughly 7 days.
So, not only does cabbage juice work fast, but it has a nearly 100% success rate in various studies. In these studies, only 1 or 2 subjects did not see healing within 1-3 weeks.
Cabbage juice is also used to reduce painful symptoms of ulcers such as severe stomach pain.
Benefits of Cabbage Juice for Gastritis
Cabbage juice contains high concentrations of antioxidants and other vitamins including Magnesium and Calcium.
Thanks to these variables, cabbage juice is a great help when it comes to protecting against bacteria that cause gastritis.
Benefits of Cabbage Juice for Acid Reflux
Cabbage juice is known for reducing acid reflux for the same reasons that it reduces gastritis: the right vitamins and nutrients go toward protecting against H-pylori (the bacteria that causes gastritis and acid reflux).
You can find many specific scenarios online that describe personal situations in which cabbage juice helped with bodily functions and reduced the symptoms and pain of things like gastritis and Acid Reflux.
Drinking cabbage juice daily can even become a healthy habit like drinking a glass with breakfast, or having some after a workout.
Cabbage Juice Blends – Easy Recipes
Cabbage juice, although healthy, probably won’t taste very good alone. You might want to consider creating a blend of different juices so that it tastes good too.
Here are some popular options of juice blends that include cabbage juice:
Cabbage, Carrot, and Apple Juice
Adding carrots and green apple to the juicer with your cabbage can create a fresh zap of flavor, while still providing nutrients and vitamins.
Green apples provide the body with pectin, “a fiber source that works as a prebiotic to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut.” (WebMD.com).
Carrots, in addition to being full of vitamins like K and A, are also a great way to keep blood sugar levels controlled. This may be a good juice option for anyone with diabetes or another blood sugar condition.
Cabbage and Cucumber Juice
This option is extra popular in the summertime, because it is incredibly refreshing, and a great blend to drink cold on a hot day.
In addition to the benefits of cabbage, adding a cucumber is loaded with antioxidants that help fight off illness in the body. It can help prevent disease and also clear up your skin.
Cucumber is known for having tons of benefits, including helping with weight loss.
If you want to jazz up your juice flavor, even more, squeeze a bit of lemon into the juice once it’s done. The fresh, tart flavor will really bring out the subtle flavors of the cabbage and cucumber.
Cabbage, Beets, and Orange Juice
Adding beetroot and oranges to your cabbage juice will create a colorful, sweet blend that is bound to please your taste buds.
Beets are incredibly rich in folate, which helps with cell growth and development. Folate also helps damaged blood vessels, which, in turn, reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke (source: WebMD.com).
Oranges can provide nearly 100% of your daily Vitamin C. Vitamin C protects and strengthens your body’s cells, makes proteins that help skin, and boosts the immune system.
This juice blend is a powerhouse of vitamins and nutrients.
The perfect way to start your journey into the world of cabbage juice is by juicing a head or two in a juicer with some carrots and apples. If you’re looking for something more unique, don’t be afraid to mix it up!
Try adding beetroot, oranges, cucumber, or any other fruits that are rich in vitamins and nutrients. The point is not just to have an interesting flavor but also one that will help keep you healthy all year long!
